Discretionary Business Rates Relief Request
Additional documents:
Minutes:
The Board considered a report of the Strategic Director, People and
Economy, and the Strategic Director, Community and Resources, on a request for
discretionary business rates relief.
The Board was advised that under the Business Rates Retention Scheme,
introduced in April 2013, the Council retained 49% of the business rates income
that it collected, and offered a financial incentive to promote economic
growth. Halton had historically considered applications for discretionary
business rates relief on a case by case basis and where there were exceptional
reasons for doing so.
The report set out details of the current request for Members’
consideration.
RESOLVED: That discretionary business rates relief of up to 100% in respect of the company referred to in the report, be approved for 2016/17 only, on the basis set out in paragraph 3.9 of the report.
