Ward Boundary Review PDF 220 KB Additional documents: Minutes: Council considered a report of the Strategic Director, Enterprise, Community and Resources, on the Council’s proposals for the Ward Boundary Review. An Electoral Review was being undertaken by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England (the Commission). The review had been triggered by a significant increase in the average electorate in the Farnworth Ward in Widnes. The report set out the ward boundary review process, which would be undertaken in four stages. The Council had already submitted its views on what it believed was an appropriate Council size for Halton at the preliminary stage in May 2018. The second stage was a consultation on ward patterns. The Council’s proposals for those arrangements were attached to the report for consideration by Members. An amendment, details of which were tabled at the meeting, was proposed by Councillor Gareth Stockton, but was not seconded. Council then voted on the recommendation set out in the report and it was RESOLVED: That 1) Council endorses the submission, attached to the report, and that it be submitted to the Local Government Boundary Commission for England; and 2) the Chief Executive, in consultation with the Leader, be authorised to make minor drafting arrangements to the submission, prior to forwarding it to the Commission. |
